2008 Olympics
We proudly honor the tremendous success of the El Campeon Farms team in helping the United States Show-Jumping Team clinch the Gold Medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Our humble appreciation goes out to Will Simpson, groom Rogelio Solis, Carlsson vom Dach, our veterinary teams at Rancho Lucia Farm and Conejo Valley Animal Hospital, and our wonderful management and support staff.
In the winter of 2008, Simpson decided that Carlsson’s training program for the upcoming Olympic Trials would involve almost exclusive preparation at El Campeon Farms. Most riders are eager to get to Florida in order to have the “pre-game practice” against fellow Olympic hopefuls. Will, however, decided that the best preparation was to utilize El Campeon Farms’ unique training facility, including our low-impact advanced footing system, a lighted indoor arena, a grass Grand Prix field, and long trails to increase Carlsson’s endurance. This was a winning recipe. With the right kind of preparation, and the help of El Campeon Farms’ support team – as well as the support from friends and fans across California – El Campeon Farms was home to the first California-based show-jumping pair in history to win an Olympic Gold Medal!
